5 New Things in life

I am Back to Blog (B2B) after 2 months. Job is keeping me very busy these days, working towards getting some new customers on board.

It had been wonderful quarter (June to Aug) on personal front. Here are few amazing things I have been doing over last 3 months that makes me feel good:

1. Biking: I have got into this new craze of biking. Brought a new TVS Apache RTR 180 on July 27, 2010. Became member of BBC (Bangalore bikers Club). Had been biking around in the city now, planning to drive to Savandurga next weekend. Last time I went for long drive was in Jan 2010 (during my book release) it was an amazing 440 KM drive on Pulsar 220 CC bike. We hired a bike in Pondicherry and drove to Tiruvanamali, tirkhoilur etc. I am hoping for lot of adventures to happen in the area. My collections currently include: Apache, HHonda SLD and Wave. Planning to buy a Thunderbird classic in Jan 2011 J

2. Reading: I some how felt because of the crazy schedule I have stopped reading books which is obviously bad L I have re-started my reading habit. Currently reading “Success Build to Last”. I had been to Avenue road over the weekend and I could purchase 63 amazing management books for just 4200 INR (all thanks to pirated and second hand books). Planning to read atleast 1 book per month.

3. Cooking: Since I am staying with dad at Bangalore my responsibility at home now includes Cooking. I have learnt many new dishes and have started experimenting with my cooking skills. I am not great at cooking though but I manage to cook tasty stuff.

4. PhD: There seems to be good progress in my PhD. I am expecting a paper to be published in next 2 months. I hope I can also start working on my thesis now.

5. Photography: in the recent past I have developed this new craze for photography. Got a new Sony – Zensis 14.1 MP camera. So far camera is great I was always told Sony does not make good cameras however I love this camera coz its GREEN!

So new hobbies and new things in life plus loads of office work is keeping me very busy these days. I have decided to blog at least twice a month now. Till then SayoNara

Lunch with a leader

It was around 12:20 pm in the noon on April 4th 2007, I was eagerly waiting for a special person on lunch table to join us (me & my team mates) it was none other than Director of Google India Mr. Roy Gilbert. Roy heads our entire operations in India and has a great background.

The lunch started with formal introduction and then followed by some official talk’s n finally concluded by thanks. The take away for me from the lunch was:

1. True leaders are always positive in there talks, expressions, answers …literally everything. In short they are people with Positive Mental Attitude (PMA)
2. Makes every employee feel they are special and important to organization
3. Always ready to take more and more responsibilities
4. They have mission n Vision
5. They are always focused on solutions n not problems

The list goes on n on n on……But what, I truly feel is every never miss an opportunity (if you get any) to have lunch, dinner, coffee or spend time with leaders of your organization. The personal experience will give you more insight into a leader’s life than any books can.

I am desperately waiting for many such sessions ahead.

Best Customer Service Vs Worst Customer Service

I had a couple of experinces in recent past with cell phone service providers in India. I had taken a Reliance connection which was never activated for almost 15 days after purchase inspite of giving them all the necessary documents like passport, electricty bill n telephone bill (True copies). Every time you call up Reliance customer care they give some weared explanation to satsify you. Finally the retailer (Pioneer Communication at Kachiguda Hyderabad) helped me out with this issue by replacing my brand new Reliance connection with Airtel connection. The Business World magzine of this week states that Vodofone has acquired Hutch for $16 billion hope Indians can expect a better service from the new mobile services.

In the beautiful land of Nizams

It is a great feeling to be here in Google Inc at Hyderabad. The company, I always wanted to be. It’s been really long time since I have posted anything on my blog. Now there are loads of things, I would love to write. All the new experience about Hyderabad, about new house, new friends, new work, new work environment, new culture, new language, new new…new…n so on.

Hyderabad:now what do I say about this awsome city...It rocks (except the hot weather). some of the facts and figures about this place that, I know are:

It is the 5th largest metropolis in India. It has about 63 lack people living in (Of course increasing every minute). City were Hindus and Muslims have co-existed peacefully from ages. It is the emerging information technology (or IT) and biotechnology hub of India. Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities, separated by the Hussain Sagar (bound by the 'Tank Bund'), a manmade lake made during the time of Ibrahim Qutb Shah in 1562. The Charminar (Urdu: "Four Minars") monument, built in the center of Hyderabad by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591, is a commemoration of the eradication of a plague in the region.

The place were, I stay is a mixture of old city and hi-tech. No wonder, I have started using "mama and ma ke kirkiri 10 times in every sentence".

To summarize this place truly rocks and it’s a privilege to be part of this company and city.

Working with company like Google is a joy in itself….the experience is tough to be explained in words. I feel, I am in an university learning more n more stuff each day rather than working for any company. The team here is Awesome!!!! I am not supposed to write about my company or work so sorry…..that’s against our policy.
